Functions as the primary dedicated trainer for all hourly operators in the facility focusing on training for new hires and upskilling existing employees.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities- Promote our Safer Together culture, encouraging safety event reporting and assist Plant Safety team in safety investigations and root-case analysis as needed
- Train new hires entering the facility as Laminator/Catcher (ATO) Operators
- Upskill and cross-train existing Plant workforce, including Operations Specialists and Shift Supervisors
- Partner with the Training & Development Coordinator and Training & Development Pillar Leader to track and report on the effectiveness of training programs, adjusting as necessary to improve outcomes
- Facilitate On-the-Job Training (OJT) Plus program for Area Trainers, equipping them with the necessary skills and knowledge to train team members effectively.
- Regularly evaluate Area Trainers to ensure they are consistently applying the OJT 4 Step Method and maintaining training standards
- Provide constructive and real-time feedback on training process and materials, needs and gaps
- Collaborate with Training and Development Coordinator, providing regular updates on new hire progress
- Lead the qualification process, ensuring training milestones are being met
- Partner with Operations Leadership to plan and execute skills assessments, utilizing an established certification process to ensure competency and identify areas for improvement
- Write new and/or edits existing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), One-Point Lessons (OPLs) and other training materials
- Teach in both hands‑on/on‑the‑job settings (e.g., equipment functionality, troubleshooting and upset condition response) and classroom style settings (e.g., new hire orientation)
- Assist employees in understanding the importance of TPM and their role in driving TPM progress at the plant
- Attend daily meetings and planning sessions
- Participate as a member of the T&D Pillar
- Coordinate with Operations Leadership and Training and Development Coordinator on new hire schedules and management
- Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by a Leader, Supervisor, NLT
Strong safety presence, on and off the line
Skilled in training facilitation and committed to developing adult learning methodology. Will become certified through the Roofing Train the Trainer program
Ability to work well with others with diverse backgrounds and at various organizational levels
Team player with strong verbal and written communication skills
Understanding of TPM theory
Basic mathematical skills
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
Flexibility to work nights, weekends and off-shifts as needed
Computer and Software CompetenciesProficient in MS Outlook, Excel and Power Point
Timely and professional email communication
Education and/or ExperienceHigh School Diploma or Equivalent
Training and development experience in a manufacturing setting preferred.
EssentialPhysical Requirements /Work Environment
Ability to routinely lift up to 40 lbs without assistance
Ability to routinely lift up to 80 lbs with assistance
Work for 12 hours in an extreme hot/cold manufacturing environment
Walk/stand continuously for up to 12 hours
Willingness to travel 10% of the time
Ability to safely bend, twist, and squat
Routinely ascend and descend stairs and ladders as work area requires
Adapt to rotating shift work
Pass pre‑employment drug screening, background check, and health screening
