Role Description

The Accounting and Fund Manager is a full-time, on-site position based in Keene, NH, responsible for managing the City’s accounting and fund-related activities. This role oversees the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements, ensuring accuracy, compliance with governmental accounting standards, and timely reporting. The individual in this position manages fund accounting activities, including tracking restricted and unrestricted funds, reconciling accounts, and monitoring fund balances.

Day‑to‑day responsibilities include coordinating the calculation and review of net asset values (NAV) for applicable funds, supporting budget development and variance analysis, and assisting with audits and regulatory filings. The Accounting and Fund Manager collaborates with internal departments to provide financial insights, improve processes, and support strategic decision‑making, while maintaining strong internal controls and clear documentation.

Qualifications
  • Strong accounting foundation, including experience with accounting principles and practices relevant to governmental or fund environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare, analyze, and interpret financial statements for multiple funds or entities.
  • Hands‑on experience with fund accounting, including tracking, reconciling, and reporting on restricted and designated funds.
  • Solid finance skills, including budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial reporting to support strategic decisions.
  • Experience with NAV calculations or similar valuation processes for funds or pooled investments.
  • Proficiency with accounting software and spreadsheets; ability to learn and optimize municipal financial systems.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field; relevant professional certification (e.g., CPA, CGFM) is a plus.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with diverse departments and stakeholders.
  • Experience in municipal or public sector finance is preferred; knowledge of governmental accounting standards is beneficial.
