Position: Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences (Tenure-Track) Faculty Position

Keene State College invites applications for a tenure‑track faculty position in the Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences Department beginning August
2026. This will be a full‑time, on‑site role, based in Keene, NH. We seek faculty who can create an inclusive, student‑centered learning environment, integrate real‑world applications into their teaching, and contribute to curriculum development that reflects evolving industry practices. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to teaching, scholarship, and service, actively engaging students through project‑based learning, internships, and professional development opportunities.

We value candidates with industry experience, relevant certifications, and a dedication to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the academic community.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and teach undergraduate and potential graduate courses in various formats, including classroom, laboratory, and online.
  • Develop curriculum, manage laboratory facilities, advise students, and serve on college and departmental activities.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, maintain professional development, and participate in service activities for the program, department, and college.
  • Mentor a diverse student body, including first‑generation college students.
  • Promote critical thinking, problem‑solving, and civic engagement.
Qualifications
  • Associate Professor rank: Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or a closely related field; minimum 5 years of collegiate teaching experience; minimum 3 years of professional experience in Occupational Safety and Health, demonstrating hands‑on expertise in applying occupational safety and health principles in real‑world, non‑academic environments; BCSP, CSP, or CIH designation or ability to obtain such a designation within one year of hire;

    evidence of service and scholarship work that aligns with SOHAS Department Guidelines.
  • Assistant Professor rank: Master’s Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Construction Management, or a closely related field; at least 3 years of professional experience in construction safety, demonstrating hands‑on expertise in applying construction management and occupational safety and health principles in real‑world, non‑academic environments; minimum 1 year of teaching or training experience, including course development and delivery; proficiency in core construction safety disciplines (OSHA standards, OSH best practices, systems safety, construction plan interpretation, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and implementation of safety management systems);

    strong communication and leadership skills; ability to engage diverse audiences and promote an inclusive learning environment; must currently maintain or receive the Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) designation within 3 years of hire; preferred: board‑certified designations or professional engineer licensure; knowledge of HOP, SafetyII, SIFs, Systems and Behavioral Sciences; ability to communicate in a second language or bring a multicultural perspective.
