Position Summary
The Engineering Manager is responsible for leading all engineering functions within a high‑pressure die casting (HPDC) operation, including process engineering, manufacturing engineering, tooling, and continuous improvement. This role drives technical excellence across the plant, ensuring optimal process performance, product quality, equipment efficiency, and successful launch of new programs. The Engineering Manager plays a critical role in aligning engineering strategy with business objectives to support growth, cost reduction, and operational stability.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and develop all engineering functions, including process, manufacturing, tooling, and automation engineering.
- Drive process optimization to improve casting quality, reduce scrap, and increase productivity.
- Oversee new product launches, including tooling design, process development, and production readiness.
- Establish and maintain standardized engineering practices, documentation, and controls.
- Partner with operations, maintenance, and quality teams to resolve technical issues and improve plant performance.
- Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for process and product issues.
- Support capital planning, equipment selection, and installation of new technologies.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and data‑driven decision‑making.
- Ensure robust process controls are in place and sustained across all production areas.
- Manage engineering budgets, project timelines, and resource allocation.
- Interface with customers and suppliers on technical requirements, product design, and quality expectations.
- Develop and mentor engineering staff, building a strong technical pipeline and leadership bench.
- Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Metallurgical, Industrial, Electrical, or related field).
- 8+ years of engineering experience in manufacturing, preferably in high‑pressure die casting or metal casting.
- 3–5 years of leadership experience managing engineering teams.
- Strong knowledge of die casting processes, tooling design, and secondary operations.
- Experience with automation systems, robotics, and process control technologies.
- Proven track record of successful program launches and process improvements.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Experience in aluminum or magnesium die casting.
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Business (MBA).
- Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma certification.
- Familiarity with simulation software (e.g., casting flow analysis) and Industry
4.0 technologies.
- Manufacturing plant environment with exposure to heat, noise, and heavy equipment.
- May require extended hours, off‑shift support, and travel as needed.
- Scrap and rework reduction.
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
- Successful new program launches (on‑time, on‑budget).
- Engineering project completion and ROI.
- Process capability and stability.
- Safety and compliance performance.
