A global leader in advanced optical technologies is seeking an Optical Metrology Engineer to lead the development of test methods, instrumentation, and measurement systems for ultra-precise optical assemblies. This individual will serve as a technical leader supporting new product development programs and will be responsible for designing, integrating, qualifying, and transferring advanced optical metrology solutions into manufacturing environments.

What You'll Do
  • Lead development of optical metrology solutions for precision optical assemblies.
  • Serve as Technical Lead on new product development programs.
  • Design and implement optical test methods and custom instrumentation.
  • Evaluate optical performance using wavefront, polarization, and other advanced measurement techniques.
  • Analyze optical surface maps using Zernike and aspheric polynomial methods.
  • Interpret optical drawings, tolerances, and ISO specifications.
  • Qualify and integrate metrology systems into development and manufacturing environments.
  • Create test methods, procedures, and documentation for manufacturing transfer.
  • Train manufacturing personnel on metrology equipment and measurement techniques.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams on new product development initiatives.
What You'll Bring
  • BS in Engineering required;
    Optics or Physics preferred.
  • 5-15 years of experience designing instrumentation for precision optical testing applications.
  • Hands-on optical metrology laboratory experience.
  • Experience with optical shop phase measuring interferometers.
  • Strong understanding of geometrical optics and optical testing methodologies.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T requirements.
  • Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary product development environments.
Preferred Qualifications
  • MS in Optics or Physics.
  • Experience with interferometry, wavefront sensing, deflectometry, profilometry, and polarimetry.
  • Experience measuring aspheric optics.
  • Familiarity with microscopy, roughness measurement, and stylus profilometry.
  • Knowledge of gauge studies and measurement uncertainty analysis.
  • Proficiency with MATLAB, Python, or similar analytical tools.
  • Experience using Zygo, 4D, Apre, or QED phase-measurement software.
