Precision Assembly Technician

Gooch & Housego Keene, a leader in precision photonics, seeks a Precision Assembly Technician to build and align optical components and assemblies for aerospace, defense, industrial, and life science systems. You will perform cleanroom-style assembly, bonding, fastening, and optical alignment using microscopes, hand tools, and measurement equipment. Responsibilities include following detailed work instructions, interpreting drawings, documenting results, and troubleshooting basic issues.

You'll collaborate with engineers and technicians, support continuous improvement, and help deliver high-reliability, mission-critical products in a quality- and teamwork-focused environment.

Responsibilities

• Assemble precision optical and mechanical components to detailed work instructions
• Perform optical alignment and inspection using microscopes and measurement tools
• Handle delicate optics using clean, ESD-safe, and contamination-control practices
• Interpret drawings, routers, and specifications to ensure correct builds
• Document assembly steps, test data, and traceability records accurately
• Collaborate with engineers and technicians to resolve build and quality issues
• Perform in-process quality checks and report nonconformances
