Responsibilities
- Deliver patient care in a long‑term geriatric setting.
- Perform direct physical care and administer medications and treatments according to physician's orders.
- Document resident needs and conditions in clinical charts and medication records.
- Direct non‑licensed personnel on the unit and serve as a unit charge during a shift as needed.
- Communicate observations, suggestions, and problem areas with the charge nurse and relevant staff.
- Observe residents' medical, mental, and emotional conditions and communicate changes to appropriate staff.
- Notify the supervisor and family members per prescribed procedures when resident medication is about to be stopped or prescriptions are expiring.
- Assist in the admission and orientation of new residents and provide explanation and support related to nursing care.
- Maintain security of medications on the unit and assure inventory, re‑ordering, and controlled substance counts.
- Minimum of 1 year experience as a Licensed Nursing Assistant in a long‑term geriatric setting.
- High School Diploma.
- Licensed Medication Nursing Aide certificate in the appropriate state.
- Completion of a state‑approved program "Medication Administration for Unlicensed Personnel" with testing of skills by a licensed nurse and presentation of certificate of completion.
- Proven leadership skills and the ability to create an atmosphere conducive to rehabilitation and growth.
- Good observation skills and the ability to treat patient information confidentially.
- Well organized with the ability to understand and show compassion to senior adults.
- Effective written and verbal communication in English with residents, family and staff.
- Stand and walk most of the time and bend, stoop, and support residents.
- Lift weights of 25 pounds, 50 pounds with assistance, and support weights of 100 pounds.
- Manual dexterity and keen vision necessary for the use of equipment.
- May be exposed to unpleasant conditions and at risk of exposure to potentially infectious material.
Pay Range: $20.69 – $27.87 per hour.
