Job Overview
The Food Safety Specialist role supports hotel, restaurant, and grocery clients in maintaining brand standards, ensuring food quality, and delivering exceptional customer service. The position pays between $19-21 per hour and requires availability Monday‑Friday and Saturdays, occasional evenings and weekends. Travel is 50%‑70% of the time, or 8‑10 days per month.
Responsibilities- Conduct assessments measuring conformity to regulatory, industry, and brand standards.
- Observe food preparation and cooking practices to ensure food safety, health, and sanitation.
- Partner with clients to address root causes of assessment discrepancies and develop corrective action plans.
- Teach and coach staff to create a safer, healthier workplace.
- Conduct audits and inspections.
- Implement and monitor food safety training.
- Investigate food safety incidents.
- Ensure regulatory compliance and maintain documentation.
- Provide clear, constructive feedback in a positive manner.
- Organize and prioritize work based on urgency and efficiency.
- Demonstrate strong technical knowledge of food safety.
- Certification in CP‑FS preferred; required to obtain CP‑FS certification.
- Valid driver’s license from state of residence.
- Strong knowledge of food safety (Serv Safe or CP‑FS preferred).
- Excellent listening, organization, communication, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to influence others with tact and skill.
- Autonomous working style and flexible schedule.
- Availability to work on Saturdays and evenings as needed.
- Licenses or certificates as required by federal, state, or local regulations (covered by the employer).
