ResponsibilitiesThe Research Assistant will devote 85% of their time on building and establishing Bioinformatic Pipelines that will use techniques in systems biology to connect different
-omics data such as microbiome to metabolome and/or metabolome to transcriptome. These pipelines will then be used by the lab in analyzing several
-omics data that are currently being generated as part of R15 grant. The rest of the time, they will be involved in regular lab maintenance, feeding and maintaining Daphnia cultures.
- Studying and establishing bioinformatic pipelines – 85%
- Data analyses pipelines to analyze microbiome data
- Data analyses pipelines to analyze transcriptome data
- Systems biology to connect transcriptome and microbiome data
- Maintenance & feeding of regular Daphnia cultures – 15%
- Feeding cultures every M, W and Friday
- Making media for cultures
- Documentation of all day-to-day activities
- Making stock solution for growth media
- Organization and cleaning of growth chambers and work area
- Undergraduate degree in Biology or related field
- Basic Laboratory Techniques that include but not limited to Daphnia culture and maintenance, algae culture and maintenance, maintenance and initiation of generational cultures, making growth media and proper documentation of daily activities in lab notebook
- Optimization of new laboratory protocols
- Undergraduate degree in Biology or related field
Pay Range: $15/hour
