The State of New Hampshire, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation has a full-time vacancy for an auto mechanic for Cannon Mountain, Franconia, New Hampshire.

Summary

To perform maintenance and repair assignments on motorized equipment in Franconia Notch State Park and Cannon Mountain.

Responsibilities
  • Conducts testing as well as troubleshoots any necessary repairs on our sophisticated hydrostatic (diesel powered) trail grooming equipment. Attends trainings as provided and required to stay in compliance and certified to work on trail grooming equipment.
  • Conducts complete unit replacement of engines, transmissions, differentials, power dividers, and all related components of mechanical equipment necessary to operate Cannon Mountain/Franconia Notch State Park.
  • Performs welding of all types in repair and fabrication as needed. Repairs and maintains heavy construction equipment, to include backhoes, dump bodies, skid steers, snowmobiles and other equipment associated with mountain operations.
  • Executes daily equipment repair schedules in accordance with established work procedures.
  • Applies accepted industry repair procedures, achieves specifications and standards; recommends improvements to existing procedures. Performs specific preventative maintenance to motorized equipment and develops maintenance schedules as necessary.
  • Use special test equipment used in vehicle equipment maintenance and repair.
  • Provides equipment operator maintenance training as well as operates all types of mountain equipment as required.

Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.

  • Education/

    Experience:

    Equivalent combination of 3 years of education and experience after completion of high school. Education and experience must be in automotive repair or automotive technician.
  • License/Certification:
    Valid driver’s license

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Work as an auto mechanic in a small or large garage working on various vehicles as well as equipment, with a degree as an automotive technician.
