Van Driver

This position has varying hours and there are opportunities to work during the summer as well as the upcoming school year.

Purpose:

Following provided bus runs, ensure all students are delivered to school prior to the start of the school day and picked up from school no earlier than the official dismissal time to be delivered home. Transport students in a safe and efficient manner and perform all activities related to the safe operation of the vehicle. Supervisor:
Director of Student Services

Minimum Qualifications:

HS diploma or equivalent Hold and maintain a valid driver's license Minimum of three years previous safe driving experience Required

Certifications:

Obtain School bus Certification 8 hours re certification yearly Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Skills Excellent oral communication Preparing and maintaining accurate records Organization and flexibility Knowledge New Hampshire motor vehicle laws Child behavior and behavior management Abilities Communicating with groups and individuals, including students and parents Collaborating and working as part of a team

Essential Functions:

Drive district vehicle and transport students between pick up points and school or to various events, activities and destinations, delivering students to school prior to the official start of the school day, and not picking them up until official dismissal time to deliver them home Be in full charge of the van at all times and report unmanageable students to the Director of Student Services Check, clean and perform minor servicing of vehicle Check gas, battery, oil and water before departure Check vehicle for operating safety Complete all provided checklists Assists disabled children and others out of and into vehicles, if appropriate Install car seats and assist PK students into and out of the vehicles as appropriate Adhere to safety rules when loading and unloading of pupils Adhere to established routes, designated stops and keep to assigned time schedule Transport only authorized students Obey all traffic laws and observe mandatory safety regulations Protect confidentiality of records and information concerning students and staff Attend mandatory safety/training programs and meetings Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

The usual methods of performing the job of Van Driver may require the following physical demands:
Minimal amount(s) of: walking, bending/squatting, Moderate amount(s) of: lifting, carrying, fine finger dexterity,pushing and/or pulling, Significant amount(s) of: mental attention/focus, speaking, listening, repetitive motion(s) MRSD is an EOE
