Are you a self-motivated and reliable individual who prefers to work part-time? If so- apply today for the City of Keene's Recycler I/Attendant position in the Public Works Department! Specific duties include but are not limited to:
• Oversees public refuse drop off public scrap metal drop off household hazardous waste reuse center demolition transfer and disposal and public brush and compost drop off.
• Separate and process separated materials and recyclables including manual sorting baling of separated recyclable materials and preparation of materials for transport.
• Directs facility residential and commercial customers to appropriate disposal locations for the various waste streams.
• Assist customers providing information regarding disposal standards or requirements.
• Monitors materials received taking action to maintain disposal standards.
• Frequent public contact and customer education required.
• Work on sorting line manually sorting recyclables.
• Operate baler store bales and load material for transport. This includes use of equipment such as skid steer small front-end loader and forklift.
• Plow and remove snow.
• Litter collection and general custodial duties necessary to maintain an attractive facility.
Note:
This position is subject to standby duty and call-back during non-regular working hours weekends and holidays. Employee should be able to respond within 60 minutes to staff the work site.
Pay and Benefits:
During the probationary period the pay rate for this position ranges from $14.73- $16.80 per hour. Upon successful completion of the probationary period this position will move to the regular pay schedule which consists of pay steps and hourly rates ranging from $17.18- $20.15 per hour. This position offers you 21-24 hours per week with a schedule as follows:
Thursday-Saturday 7am-3pm Memorial Day
- Labor Day. Remainder of the year schedule is Thursday
- Friday 7am-3pm and Saturday 8am- 1pm.
Minimum Qualifications:
High school diploma or GED; or one to three months' related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid driver's license required. Solid Waste Facility Principal Operator Step 1 (Env-Sw 1600) certification required within one year of employment. The employee will frequently lift and/or move 10-25 lbs and occasionally 75-100 lbs. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform routine preventative maintenance of equipment. Equipment to be maintained includes large and small front-end loaders; skid steers; and forklifts.
Collect City recyclables.
Turn compost.
Plow and remove snow.
Possess familiarity with solid waste management including identification of hazardous waste; landfill management; composting processes and functions; recycling; and materials marketing.
Litter collection and general custodial duties necessary to maintain an attractive facility.
