RN, First Assist-Ambulatory Surgery

The RN, First Assist-Ambulatory Surgery provides critical support to the surgical team during the intra-operative phase of surgical care. This role is ideal for experienced nurses who thrive in a collaborative environment and are skilled in advanced nursing care.

• Perform pre-operative assessment and evaluation as required.
• Collaborate with the surgical team on the plan of care.
• Provide technical assistance to the surgeon during operative procedures.
• Apply post-operative splints and/or braces.
• Communicate information to maintain continuity of care.
• Function as an assistant in all surgical specialties at the direction of the attending surgeon.
• Assist with room preparation and opening of supplies.
• Participate in briefing/time out and debriefing.
• Monitor free counted items on the sterile field.
• Assist with patient transfer and positioning post-operatively.

• RNFA responsibilities in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act of the State of Oregon.

• Experience in surgical settings preferred.

• Current RN License in Oregon.
• RN First Assistant certification preferred.
