The City’s treatment facilities serve a population equivalent of 240,000 within a three-city area with an average annual flow of 45 million gallons per day (MGD). Willow Lake is the primary treatment facility for the City with a dry weather secondary treatment capacity of 65 MGD, a wet weather secondary treatment capacity of 115 MGD, and a peak wet weather capacity of 155 MGD.

It can be operated in trickling filter/activated sludge, conventional air activated sludge and in a combination of both processes plus selective treatment based on flow and load fluctuations.

What you will do:
  • Serve as the lead worker in a small group of electricians and instrument technicians.
  • Perform design and drawing reviews, create work orders, assign tasks, and perform all duties of an Electrician 1.
  • Complete preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) work, and address breakdowns on electrical, instrumentation, and communication equipment for the Public Works Wastewater Treatment Plant.
  • Troubleshoot, directly replace, calibrate, and repair equipment such as motors, gates/valves, analysis equipment and systems, process control equipment, analog and digital devices, power generation systems, and DCS and PLC monitoring systems.
  • Design, modify, and install electric circuits, computerized motor controls, lighting, streetlights, traffic signals, and alarm controls.
  • Maintain written work records and prepare reports, including finalizing work orders and drawings and project status into databases or asset management programs.
  • Design or verify the design of, install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair a variety of electrical and instrumentation equipment and systems, sub-systems, circuits, and controls; interpret work from plans or develop sketches as appropriate.
  • Respond to failures, disasters, and emergencies involving electrical systems and equipment; perform routine and preventative maintenance.
  • Perform electrical construction and structural installation or maintenance; operate hand, power, and hydraulic tools including aerial and crane trucks.
  • Ensure that repairs and installations are safe and operate properly; evaluate safety and operability of systems; review work of contractors for compliance with specifications and standards.
  • Perform diagnostic and analytical tests, including those involving programmable logic controls, infra‑red, ultra‑sonic; research information as necessary to maintain accuracy.
  • Maintain records, supplies and equipment; stock service vehicles; determine material needs; carry out all required safety procedures.
  • Develop procedures with supervisor and other department or division staff.
  • Plan and organize assigned job; estimate time, materials, and equipment; order and purchase materials; coordinate job activities with other crafts and trades personnel; review plans and specifications; confer with engineers, design professionals and inspectors on suggested changes and modifications.
  • May lead crew of trade helpers or technicians to assist with projects.
  • Respond to calls to work during emergencies.
