Teacher – General Education/Head Baseball Coach (2026‑2027)

SummaryProvide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society. Direct and manage the assigned sport athletic program, instruct, and coach students to develop skills and abilities to excel in athletics.
Provide each student with the opportunity to participate in an extracurricular athletic activity and ensure compliance with all federal, state, UIL, and local requirements.
- Develop and implement lesson plans for in‑person learning that fulfill the requirements of the district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required. Prepare lessons that reflect accommodations for individual differences.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Present subject matter according to guidelines established by the Texas Education Agency (TEA), board policies, and administrative regulations.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula as needed for special education students according to guidelines established in Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Collaborate with other staff members to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers and oversee completion.
- Establish performance criteria for competition and manage athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, and good sportsmanship.
- Model performance criteria and perform the necessary physical movements required for student performance in the sport.
- Maintain an active program that promotes good sportsmanship and student development, including the time, resources, and materials necessary to accomplish department goals.
- Set and enforce physical and academic eligibility requirements for participation in each sport and verify each athlete’s eligibility.
- Use a variety of instructional and coaching techniques to meet the needs and improve the abilities of student athletes in the assigned sport.
- Take all necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Use evaluative findings, including student achievement data, to gauge program effectiveness and ensure continuous, responsive improvement.
- Collaborate with school staff to plan and implement instructional goals and objectives that support the overall educational development of student athletics.
- Serve as a positive role model for students.
- Support the preparation of all interscholastic game schedules.
- Transport students to out‑of‑district competition by driving a school bus when required.
- Implement district student‑management policies, communicate expected athletic behavior, and enforce discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
- Accompany and supervise student athletes during games, both at‑home and on out‑of‑town trips.
- Instruct and advise students on NCAA regulations relating to academic requirements for scholarships and recruiting practices.
- Assist in selecting equipment and other instructional materials.
- Compile, maintain, and file all required reports, records, and documents.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open lines of communication on vital issues with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Implement policies established by federal law, state law, the board of education, UIL rules, and local board policy in athletics.
