Job DescriptionSUMMARY: Provide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in the core academic subject area assigned to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Enable students to develop competencies and skills to function successfully in society.
Core Functions (Representative)- Model core organizational beliefs and values; perform duties effectively for the purpose of supporting high student achievement.
- Provide program support and service delivery; communicate effectively within and across teams and participate in cross‑functional work groups.
- Maintain a commitment to the District mission; model expectations through personal leadership and actively support the efforts of others.
- Develop and implement lesson plans for in‑person learning that fulfill District curriculum requirements and provide written evidence of preparation.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, activities, materials, equipment, and technology that reflect the learning styles and needs of the students.
- Conduct assessment of student learning styles and use results to plan instructional activities.
- Work cooperatively with Special Education Teachers to modify curricula per Individual Education Plans (IEP).
- Collaborate with staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods.
- Plan and assign work to instructional aides and volunteers and oversee completion.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned and sponsor outside activities approved by the campus principal.
- Be a positive role model for students.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning appropriate for physical, social, and emotional development.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
- Take precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist in selecting books, equipment, and other instructional materials.
- Compile, maintain, and file required reports, records, and documents.
- Establish and maintain a professional relationship and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job‑related skills.
- Comply with State, District, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

- Develop and maintain information retrieval systems for all programs.
- Pursue professional development aligned with District goals and current research.
- Comply with all policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, and directives.
- Follow the Professional Code of Ethics and Standard Practices for Texas Educators.
- Follow safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.
- Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in subject assigned.
- Valid Texas Teacher Certificate in English as a Second Language – required for all core subject teachers.
- CTE Teachers:
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate with required endorsements or related training for certification waivers. - Pre‑Kindergarten and Kindergarten Teachers:
Valid Texas Teaching Certificate in Early Childhood. - Physical Education Teachers:
Current AED and CPR certificate.
- Student teaching, approved internship, or related work experience.
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct students and manage behavior.
