Position Summary
The Student Minister leads The Mount Church’s Student Ministry, carrying out the church’s mission of “Following
Jesus Together” among students in 7th–12th grade and their families. Working alongside staff and volunteers,
this leader creates safe, Gospel-centered environments where students encounter biblical truth, grow as
disciples, build meaningful relationships, and learn to carry the Gospel into their schools and homes. The role
calls for a passion for partnering with parents, developing volunteer and student leaders, and building an
organized, welcoming ministry that helps students take meaningful next steps in following Jesus together.

- Provide vision, strategy, and day-to-day leadership for Student Ministry, ensuring alignment with The Mount’s mission, doctrine, and values.
- Lead and oversee weekly ministry environments, including Midweek worship and Student CGs (Community Groups).
- Plan and deliver biblically faithful, Gospel-centered teaching that is relevant and applicable to students.
- Create pathways that help students understand and respond to the Gospel, develop spiritual practices, serve others, share their faith, and celebrate milestones such as salvation and baptism.
- Shepherd students through prayer, discipleship, consistent presence, and appropriate soul care throughout the week.
- Be present, visible, and engaged on Sundays and Wednesdays, building meaningful relationships with students, parents, volunteers, and new families.
- Regularly evaluate teaching, weekly environments, participation, and discipleship strategies for effectiveness and improvement.
- Champion a ministry culture in which the physical, emotional, spiritual, and relational safety of every student is a clear priority.
- Implement and consistently enforce all Ministry Safe requirements, student-protection policies, check-in procedures, transportation guidelines, and emergency protocols.
- Maintain accurate records for volunteer screening, background checks, training, incidents, attendance, permissions, and relevant student information.
- Train staff and adult Student Ministry volunteers in appropriate boundaries, group leadership, emergency response, and best practices for safely engaging students.
- Respond promptly and appropriately to safety concerns, incidents, disclosures, and policy violations in coordination with church leadership.
- Plan, prepare, and execute camps, conferences, retreats, and seasonal events with clear Gospel-centered purpose, strong communication, thoughtful logistics, and appropriate follow-up.
- Ensure ministry spaces are prepared, welcoming, secure, and supplied for each gathering.
- Partner with parents as the primary disciple rs of their students by providing practical, accessible resources, curriculum recaps, and encouragement.
- Develop a regular rhythm of parenting workshops and training opportunities that equip parents with biblical, practical tools for discipling their kids.
- Connect with new students and families through prompt follow-up, personal invitations, and clear next steps.
- Communicate consistently with parents about ministry updates, teaching, events, policies, schedules, and opportunities for involvement.
