Job Summary

The Machine Fabricator supports the Plant Manager by fabricating, assembling, and insulating machinery using a variety of tools and equipment according to a required specification. The position performs repairs on hydraulic, pneumatic, electronic, mechanical, and electrical systems on all production machines and equipment. The incumbent is a self‑starter, manages time well, works independently, and follows Altor Solutions’ standards for safety and conduct.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop trade expertise and work independently on maintenance and repairs.
  • Fabricate components using tools such as lathes, boring machines, mills, plate rollers, grinders, drill presses, and press brakes (experience on each tool is not required to start).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work orders, charts, and diagrams.
  • Use hoists, drills, hand tools, holding devices, cutters, power tools, and welding equipment.
  • Test run machines and observe machine operations.
  • Perform inspections including pressure and flow tests.
  • Change worn machine accessories, such as cutting tools and brushes.
  • Perform quality work checks to ensure products meet quality standards.
  • Rework and/or repair assembled equipment and products according to engineering specifications.
  • Perform work in accordance with quality standards and established safety procedures.
  • Conduct general maintenance on building and machines, including troubleshooting to determine root causes.
  • Follow plant‑specified job specifications, task lists, and complete all required paperwork.
  • Adhere to all required safety protocols, including lockout/tagout.
  • Wear PPE properly in accordance with company standards.
  • Keep the workstation clean and free of dirt and debris; clean assigned areas of the building or equipment as instructed.
  • Work assigned shifts, including overtime and after‑hour meetings, as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements

Qualifications

  • 1‑3 years’ experience preferred.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Associate’s degree or technical certificate preferred.
  • Knowledge of tools, materials, and methods.
  • Ability to work from drawings and manuals.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to use reasoning to solve problems.
  • Ability to work well with others and independently.
  • High attention to detail and self‑motivation.

Physical Demands

Frequent lifting and carrying up to 40 pounds; close vision required. Employees regularly sit, use hands, and talk or hear. Frequent standing, walking, reaching, stooping, crouching, bending, and twisting; occasional pushing or pulling of material. Work may be performed in awkward positions and around machines.

Work Environment

Typical manufacturing environment with high noise levels; ear protection required as posted.
