OVERVIEW

The Connections & Care Pastor is responsible for overseeing the spiritual health of The Mount's families by focusing on adult Community Groups, the Care Ministry, and the Next Gen ministries for Students and Children. The Mount is passionate about “following Jesus together” and believes these ministries are vital to this pursuit.

RESPONSIBILITIES Adult Community Groups (CGs)
  • Oversee the structure, leadership, and theological integrity of CGs, ensuring biblical one‑anothering and healthy member care.
  • Shepherd the assimilation and discipleship efforts of the church from initial connection to active participation.
  • Recruit, equip, and train CG leaders to serve as the day‑to‑day care, fellowship, and discipleship connection for members.
  • Develop and implement discipleship and leadership training pathways for CG and other ministry leaders.
  • Articulate and advance a long‑term vision for the growth, multiplication, and health of CGs and other small‑group expressions of church life.
Care Ministry
  • Oversee and resource the Biblical Counseling Ministry, Reengage, and Renew.
  • Create pathways of training and certifications for lay counsellors.
  • Build and lead the lay leadership team.
  • Craft and drive the vision of the future development of the ministry.
Staff Leadership
  • Supervise and resource the Student Minister to carry out discipleship strategies across 7th through 12th grades while also fostering collaboration with the Children’s Minister to build and maintain a cohesive scope and sequence from birth through graduation.
  • Supervise and resource the Children’s Minister to provide safe, clean, biblically based programming for birth through 6th grade, while also resourcing parents and families to foster faith‑building exercises at home.
  • Foster collaboration and alignment between grades and ministries such that curriculum, events, and initiatives advance the mission of The Mount.
  • Help craft and drive the vision of the future development of Next Gen ministries.
Staff Elder
  • Serve on the elder team of The Mount in a probationary capacity for the first two years, followed by church affirmation for years three and following.
  • Act as a conduit of information between the elders and the staff.
  • Contribute to a unified ministry culture by promoting healthy interaction between ministries.
  • Provide a shepherding influence for the staff on behalf of the elders.

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Spiritual Maturity: A committed follower of Jesus Christ, exemplifying the requirements for a pastor/elder in 1 Timothy 3:1–7 and Titus 1:6–9.
  • Experience:

    5+ years of experience in children, youth, or family ministry.
  • Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in a related ministry field (Master’s/Seminary preferred).
  • Skills:

    Proven ability to recruit and train volunteers, strong organization and communication skills, and proficiency in biblical counseling (ABC preferred).
  • Alignment:
    Full agreement with The Mount’s statement of faith and covenant member expectations.
  • Home:
    Leads family to be active participants in the life of The Mount.

STRUCTURE
  • Reports to:

    Elder board/chair.
  • Direct Reports:
    Children’s Minister, Student Minister.
  • Work Schedule:

    Monday through Thursday, Sunday mornings, and occasional evenings and weekends (as needed).
COMPENSATION
  • Salary Range: $80,000‑$90,000, commensurate with skills and experience.
  • 401(k) with an optional 3% match.
  • Four weeks of Paid Time Off (PTO), inclusive of vacation and sick time.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (for the employee) with a church‑funded HSA.
  • Housing Allowance is available.
