Position Overview
The Warehouse & Inventory Specialist is responsible for the end‑to‑end establishment and ongoing management of Bunker Hill Mine’s warehouse, inventory, and procurement functions. This role will lead the initial setup of the warehouse facility, processes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs), ensuring the operation is compliant, efficient, and scalable. Additionally, this role will assist with the initial set up of the inventory system.
Following the setup phase, the role will serve as a key operational partner to mine operations, the process plant, underground mine leadership, maintenance, and finance teams. The Specialist will oversee day‑to‑day warehouse operations, inventory control, and all shipping and receiving functions to support safe, reliable, and cost‑effective mining operations.
Warehouse & Inventory Setup
- Lead the initial establishment of the warehouse, including layout design, material flow, racking, storage locations, and safety considerations.
- Assist with configuration of the inventory and warehouse management modules of the ERP system in alignment with finance and operations requirements.
- Develop, document, and implement warehouse and inventory SOPs and work instructions.
- Establish inventory classification, critical spares lists, min/max levels, and reorder points.
- Ensure systems and processes support traceability, cost control, and audit readiness.
Warehouse Operations & Inventory Control
- Manage daily warehouse operations, including material handling, storage, picking, kitting, and issuing materials.
- Maintain accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts, reconciliations, and variance resolution.
- Ensure compliance with site safety standards, MSHA requirements, environmental regulations, and company policies.
- Coordinate closely with maintenance, operations, and plant teams to ensure timely availability of materials and critical spares.
- Manage inventory data integrity through accurate data entry, quality controls, and ongoing system audits.
Procurement Activities
- Execute procurement activities including requisitions, purchase orders, expediting, and supplier follow up.
- Work with operations and maintenance to forecast demand and plan purchases aligned with production schedules.
- Maintain good working relationships with key suppliers, contractors, and freight providers.
- Support cost control initiatives through inventory optimization and waste reduction.
- Partner with finance on invoice matching, accruals, and budget tracking.
Shipping & Receiving
- Oversee all inbound and outbound logistics, including receiving, inspection, documentation, and distribution.
- Coordinate freight, customs (if applicable), and transportation logistics.
- Ensure materials are properly labeled, stored, and issued in accordance with SOPs.
Cross Functional Collaboration & Reporting
- Act as the primary point of contact for warehouse and inventory matters across the site.
- Provide regular reporting on inventory levels, critical spares, stockouts, and procurement performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to supply chain efficiency, safety, and cost management.
- High school degree or GED equivalent.
- 5+ years of experience in warehouse management, procurement, or supply chain roles, preferably in mining, heavy industry, or manufacturing environments.
- Proven experience setting up or significantly improving warehouse and inventory systems.
- Strong understanding of inventory control, procurement processes, and logistics.
- Experience working with ERP or inventory management systems.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross‑functional teams in a site‑based operational environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize competing deliverables.
- Experience in underground mining and/or process plant operations.
- Knowledge of MSHA regulations and industrial safety standards.
- Experience with critical spares management and maintenance supply chains.
