Hours Summer Full Time, 35 hours per week

Other Hours are Monday - Friday

The City of Kawartha Lakes is hiring summer students, and we're looking for innovative and passionate individuals interested in a four-month position from May to August. Our Summer Student Program introduces students to the public sector through challenging experiences, while providing meaningful opportunities to contribute to the community.

Summer employment with the City of Kawartha Lakes can be great way to earn and learn.

To be considered for a Student position with the City of Kawartha Lakes, you must be:

Minimum of age 16

Registered as a full time student during the preceding academic year, 2025 to 2026

Registered as a full time student with the intent to return to school on a full time basis during the next academic year, 2026 to 2027

Students may be assigned to one of the following work teams/areas –
Building Services, Law Enforcement, Records, People Services, POA, Revenue and Taxation, Treasury, and Engineering.

Job Description
  • Organizing and maintaining physical and digital filing systems
  • Providing customer service assistance by performing reception duties, responding to the public and/or internal inquiries
  • Conduct research, perform analysis and input data
  • Assist with project initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
  • Previous work experience preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Strong attention to detail
