Position Summary
Penticton Regional Hospital has an exciting opportunity for a Relief Part-time Switchboard Operator | Registration Clerk to join their team in Penticton, BC. This position works rotating nights from 23:00 to 07:00, with a position end date of Return of Incumbent and rotating days off.

Responsibilities

Operate switchboard, public address system, and other paging device systems.

Receive and direct patients and visitors.

Respond to and monitor hospital alarms and emergency codes.

Maintain physician on‑call/vacation lists and other hospital staff information.

Perform patient registration duties.

Admitting clerical duties with bed booking options.

Cashier duties: receive payments, record payments in cash journals and/or summary sheets, issue change and receipts.

Receive, check, and deposit patient valuables for safekeeping.

Qualifications

Grade 12 education.

Two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Ability to type at 45 words per minute.

Knowledge of medical terminology.

Application Requirements

5‑minute typing test (45+ NWPM) from a recognized institution, completed within the past 48 months (non‑supervised tests not accepted).

Resume outlining two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Cover letter stating availability to start in a new position and on‑call, casual work (i.e., days of the week).
