Located on the renowned Black Sage Bench in Oliver, BC, Black Hills Estate Winery is celebrated for producing exceptional, small-lot wines that showcase the unique terroir of the South Okanagan. Best known for our flagship Bordeaux‑style blend, Nota Bene, we are committed to quality, sustainability, and innovation. Our team takes pride in delivering outstanding guest experiences, offering warm hospitality, immersive wine tastings, and exclusive events that create lasting memories for our visitors.

We are seeking passionate and enthusiastic Winery Hosts to join our team for the 2026 season (mid‑April/May to mid‑October). As a Winery Host, you will be the first point of contact for guests, ensuring they feel welcomed, valued, and engaged from arrival to departure. You’ll share our brand story, guide guests through memorable tasting experiences, and assist with purchases, wine shipments, and exclusive offerings.

What this teammate will be responsible for
  • Provide a warm and professional welcome to all guests
  • Manage reservations and ensure seamless seating and guest flow
  • Introduce first‑time visitors to the winery and invite them to enjoy a tasting
  • Assist with clearing, resetting tables, restocking inventory, and maintaining a clean workspace
  • Guide guests through purchases, packaging wines, and organizing shipments
  • Work towards individual and team sales goals (daily, weekly, monthly)
  • Handle cash transactions and balance registers at the start and end of each shift
  • Offer local recommendations and assist with guest inquiries
  • Address customer concerns with professionalism, escalating issues as needed
The skills, experience, and knowledge this teammate will bring
  • 1‑3 years of experience in luxury retail, hospitality, or wine service (hosting experience preferred)
  • Wine education is an asset (WSET Level 2/3, ISG/CAPS, or CMS certification)
  • Strong knowledge of local BC wines and wineries, including our sister estates
  • Excellent communication, listening, and storytelling skills
  • Enthusiasm for wine and the ability to create a fun, engaging guest experience
Work Environment & Expectations
  • Flexibility availability, including days, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Comfortable working indoors and outdoors, often in summer temperatures up to 40°
  • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs (cases of wine) and stand for extended periods
  • Ability to climb small sets of stairs, bend, and stoop as needed
  • Thrive in a fast‑paced environment, especially during peak season
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada without restrictions
