Description

Reporting to the General Manager of Community Programs and Innovation, the Senior Manager is responsible for establishing and implementing strategies that drive growth and long-term success across the Community Services division. The successful candidate will have experience with government-funded services, particularly intervention programs that support vulnerable and equity-seeking populations. They will also help develop and launch of a variety of low-barrier education, employment, family support, recreation, and health promotion programs that respond to the needs of the South Okanagan region.

The Senior Manager will lead a team of 2 Managers and approximately 25 staff, overseeing a portfolio of locations and programs across the South Okanagan region. This position ensures that programs are delivered safely, effectively, and in alignment with YMCA values, funding agreements, regulatory requirements, and strategic objectives.

The Senior Manager provides the leadership, operational oversight, and strategic direction necessary to ensure these programs remain responsive, sustainable, innovative, and impactful for the communities we serve.

What You Will Do
  • Work closely with the General Manager of Community Programs & Innovation to support the division's strategic priorities and operational goals.
  • Provide strategic direction, leadership, and operational oversight for a diverse portfolio of community and employment-based programs.
  • Lead, train, coach, and support a team of 2 Managers and approximately 25 staff across multiple service locations.
  • Ensure programs meet contractual obligations, YMCA standards, legal requirements, and service quality expectations.
  • Oversee government-funded intervention programs supporting vulnerable populations and equity-seeking groups.
  • Achieve program excellence through continuous improvement, evaluation, and innovation.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government representatives, funders, and community partners.
  • Ensure high-quality, affordable, safe, and accessible support services throughout the region.
  • Support program planning, implementation, evaluation, and long-term strategic objectives.
  • Oversee financial performance, budgeting, reporting, and resource allocation.
  • Demonstrate sound financial stewardship and support activity and financial reporting requirements to funders.
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy, relationship building, collaboration, and service excellence.
  • Work independently and effectively manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

What You Bring
  • Post-secondary degree in a related field and a demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three to five years of senior-level leadership experience in community services, employment services, social services, government-funded programs, or a related sector.
  • Progressive leadership experience in program planning, evaluation, and financial management.
  • Demonstrated success managing multiple programs, locations, and teams.
  • Strong knowledge of government contracts, funding agreements, service delivery models, and accountability frameworks.
  • Experience working with vulnerable populations and equity-seeking groups.
  • Proven ability to lead organizational change and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Strong financial management, budgeting, and reporting experience.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze information, solve problems, and make sound operational decisions.
