Job Summary
Gillfor Distribution seeks a full-time Outside Account Manager for its Kelowna, British Columbia location. The role is responsible for driving results at the distribution center by building and maintaining business relationships with key customer accounts.
Responsibilities- Manage all aspects of the customer relationship, including product sales and promotion, accounts receivable, shipping, delivery, and conflict resolution.
- Help create customer target plans and strategies.
- Identify decision‑makers within targeted leads to initiate the sales process.
- Collaborate with the Division Manager to develop strategic sales approaches.
- Support marketing efforts such as trade shows, exhibits, and other events when necessary.
- Make outbound follow‑up calls to existing customers via telephone and e‑mail to cross‑sell and up‑sell.
- Handle inbound unsolicited prospect calls and convert them into sales.
- Oversee pricing, purchases, logistics, accounts payable and receivable, and coordinate efforts with the Sales Team.
- Attend periodic sales training as applicable.
- Address client inquiries regarding order status, payment, refunds, etc.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
The role requires regular travel, including overnight stays as needed, and reports to the location Division Manager.
Key Qualifications- Minimum 5 years of sales experience; proven sales leadership.
- Familiarity with the building supply industry is a strong asset.
- Valid driver’s licence required (travel required).
- Highly self‑motivated, target‑driven with a proven sales track record.
- Excellent selling, communication, problem‑solving and negotiating skills.
- Strong prioritizing, time‑management and organizational skills.
- Strong problem‑identification and objection‑resolution skills.
- Ability to adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to establish, develop and maintain positive business and customer relationships.
- Self‑motivated, high energy and enthusiastic.
Full‑time position, Monday to Friday: 7:00am – 4:00pm with overtime as required.
