Position Overview
As an Emergency Services Technician, you will be making a difference in people’s lives by helping restore their homes after they have experienced a fire or flood. For an Emergency Services Technician, no day is the same and you will be on different sites every day. This position has a lot of overtime potential and is great for people who are looking to bulk their pay cheque!
We are looking for people who are skilled in or are looking to learn: demolition, fire restoration, flood drying and restoration.
Duties and Responsibilities
Complete paperwork ie, Site Safety Assessments, Work Authorizations, Demo Work Order, and Psychometry
Monitor job sites and document drying
Use meters to identify wet areas
Complete water extraction, setting up and monitoring drying and dehumidifying equipment, creating drying plans based on IICRC guidelines.
Support 3-step bio wash
Mark-out non-restorable materials for removal
Controlled demolition, removal of damaged materials like drywall, flooring, and finishing’s
Operate and maintain a truck mount
Use injectidry and other specialty equipment
Disengage and cut seams in affected carpent
Assist with removal of door hardware/fixtures
Set up and remove scaffolding
Assist with board-ups
Health and Safety
Ensure that self and others adhere to Canstar’s health and safety practices and procedures
Ensure good housekeeping is kept to perform work safely and efficiently
Understand safety policies and protocols
Ensure that self and others on site are wearing all required PPE, when required
Who we are looking for
Fire and Flood restoration and/or demolition experience is an asset. We are always looking for experienced technicians and leads.
No experience required for junior technicians. We will train you in demolition and restoration if you are looking for a new career.
The physical ability to bend, reach, lift 50 pounds safely and repeatedly and stand throughout your shift.
An eagerness to bulk your paycheck with overtime hours as we are a 24/7 emergency services company, and all positions will have a component of on-call work on a rotational basis.
A great attitude and willingness to do what it takes to get the job done and serve our customers. We have a fun and hard-working team and are looking for someone with the skills to complement them.
The ability to wear personal protective equipment to keep you safe on site, including a respirator. Facial hair that will allow you to wear a respirator safely is limited to a clean shave, a moustache and/or a small goatee.
A driver’s license and personal vehicle to attend on call sites is a must (mileage is reimbursed).
We enter people’s homes and drive company vehicles, so a clean criminal record as it relates to work and a drivers abstract with only minor infractions is required.
Working Conditions
Travel within the Lower Mainland to visit Canstar branches and client offices is required
Must be flexible to work overtime, evenings, and weekends on occasion.
