Support teaching labs and field courses with the UBC Department of Earth and Environmental Sciences as a Lab and Field Technician. This role emphasizes technical guidance and equipment maintenance to enhance student experiential learning.
The Lab and Field Technician assists in the operational support of undergraduate teaching labs. Key responsibilities include setting up lab equipment, maintaining a safe working environment, and providing technical assistance during field excursions. You'll work closely with faculty, students, and staff to deliver an optimal learning experience.
Key Responsibilities:
• Prepare reagents and materials for lab experiments
• Set up and take down materials for teaching labs
• Maintain and troubleshoot lab equipment as needed
• Facilitate student field excursions and equipment sign-outs
• Enforce and model safe practices in labs and fieldwork
Requirements:
• Understanding of lab safety and operational guidelines
• Experience with equipment maintenance and inventory management
• Ability to support field trips and experiential learning
• Strong technical and organizational skills
• Valid certifications in lab safety practices
