Kelso School District is seeking an exceptional educator to serve as an ECEAP/Transition to Kindergarten (TK) Teacher. This position provides high‑quality early learning experiences for ECEAP and transition to kindergarten students who require additional preparation to support successful entry into kindergarten. The teacher is responsible for creating and maintaining a safe, engaging, inclusive, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate learning environment that supports the academic, social‑emotional, behavioral, physical, and developmental needs of young learners and their families.
The ECEAP/TK Teacher collaborates closely with families, support staff, special education staff, community agencies, and district personnel to provide integrated and comprehensive services aligned with ECEAP Performance Standards, district curriculum, DCYF requirements, and early childhood best practices. The position supports equitable access, family partnerships, individualized learning, kindergarten readiness, and whole‑child development.
Essential Functions Professional Responsibilities- Demonstrates knowledge of early childhood education principles, child development, anti‑bias education, culturally responsive practices, trauma‑informed care, and developmentally appropriate instructional strategies.
- Maintains a professional demeanor and demonstrates ongoing professional growth through annual learning plans, required training, and participation in job‑embedded professional learning opportunities.
- Ensures compliance with ECEAP Performance Standards, DCYF licensing requirements, district policies, safety procedures, confidentiality expectations, and applicable state and federal regulations.
- Provides leadership, direction, mentoring, and collaboration with instructional assistants, aides, volunteers, interns, and support staff.
- Participates in staff meetings, professional development, child study meetings, instructional planning, transition planning, and continuous improvement activities.
- Maintains accurate records and required documentation in district and ECEAP systems, including assessment, screening, family engagement, and student progress data.
- Participates in required ECEAP and district training, including but not limited to GOLD, developmental screening, child guidance practices, health and safety procedures, mandatory reporting, emergency preparedness, and inclusionary practices.
- Designs and implements developmentally appropriate instruction aligned with ECEAP curriculum, ECEAP standards, and kindergarten readiness goals.
- Creates lesson plans and classroom activities that support cognitive, language, literacy, mathematics, social‑emotional, behavioral, creative, and physical development.
- Utilizes differentiated instructional strategies and individualized supports to meet the diverse developmental and learning needs of students.
- Develops individualized goals and instructional plans informed by observations, assessment data, family input, IEPs, Individual Care Plans, and Child Focus Response Plans, when applicable.
- Conducts ongoing observation and documentation of student learning utilizing Teaching Strategies GOLD and other approved assessment tools.
- Completes developmental screenings, assessments, progress monitoring, and required documentation within established timelines.
- Incorporates students' individual cultures, languages, backgrounds, and experiences into classroom instruction, materials, and learning environments.
- Creates inclusive learning environments that support children of all abilities and developmental needs.
- Collaborates with special education staff, related service providers, and community agencies regarding referrals, interventions, IEP implementation, transition planning, and support services.
