Position Details: 6.5 hrs/day, 7:30am to 2:30pm; 191 days/year.
Potential reduction hours due to Wednesday early release, early dismissals for parent conferences, holidays, and last day of school; reduction hours subject to change. Job assignment and/or building assignment are subject to change based on program needs determined by the district.
Pay Range: PSE 1 Salary Schedule

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
* To assist the special education teacher in maintaining necessary records
* Undertake with the timely submission of IEPs and progress reports and documentation of provision of services related to an IEP
* Assist in daily hygiene activities, including personal care (toileting, grooming etc.) for students with disabilities, if needed
* Supervise students in the cafeteria, classroom, on school grounds and in the community as needed
* Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities
* Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and board policies
* Must have regular and consistent attendance
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Demonstrated awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students and the ability to set appropriate expectations for individual students
* Must possess valid first aid and CPR cards (or obtain upon employment) and be willing to keep cards current
* Must possess valid CPI training (or obtain upon employment)
* Previous experience or training in working with students with disabilities preferred
* Must have physical ability to lift, position and/or transfer students (with assistance as may be required) up to 21 years of age
* Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teachers, parents and students with disabilities
* Demonstrated ability to work as a team member and be able to project a positive, friendly and caring attitude toward others
* Demonstrated ability and willingness to participate in activities and responsibilities as assigned by the classroom teacher
* Demonstrated ability to work independently under the direction of the classroom teacher, while accepting direction and constructive criticism
