Occupational Therapist
- Full-Time

Location:
Kelso, WA, 98626


Responsibilities:

  • Organize and conduct an identification program for occupational therapy services.
  • Consult with parents, staff, and administration regarding student needs.
  • Select and employ appropriate diagnostic procedures and develop guidelines for a comprehensive program.
  • Prepare IEP goals and objectives and maintain progress data.
  • Understand and comply with current legislation on children with disabilities.
  • Complete all required reports and records in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Provide supervision to certified occupational therapy assistants and District motor team assistants.
  • Provide occupational therapy services in the classroom and individual settings.
  • Consult with school staff on appropriate practices for students with disabilities.
  • Function as a member of a multi-disciplinary team and as a member of a team providing motor services to students with disabilities.
  • Follow Code of Ethics and maintain a high standard of professional behavior.

Qualifications:

  • Possession or eligibility for Washington State E.S.A. Occupational Therapist Certificate.
  • State licensure as an occupational therapist.
  • Experience in identifying students with exceptional needs.
  • Ability to maintain individual case records according to law.
  • Ability to work directly with Special Education personnel, parents and school staff when developing individual educational programs.
  • Ability to conduct appropriate testing, diagnosis and evaluation activities of students with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of child development.
  • Awareness and appreciation of diversity among individual students.
  • Successful therapy experience in an educational setting is preferred.
  • Willingness to participate in professional development activities to upgrade professional skills.
  • Ability to direct, supervise and evaluate students.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule and travel between buildings.
  • Knowledge of state and federal legislation for disabilities (WAC 392-172A, IDEA ’04, Section 504, etc).
