OverviewTransportation Associates will perform trailer moves in the trailer yard, coordinate yard activities such as checking in trailers, traffic flow and internal communications, conduct yard audits, complete driver training programs (Hostler, Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) School, etc.), and operate multiple vehicle types based on business need to support Amazon’s transportation network. The role offers the opportunity to work outside and understand the exciting world of transportation operations.
Responsibilities- Make safety a priority by adhering to company rules and enforcing safety measures for all vehicle operators and yard entrants, including vendors and senior team members.
- Perform various functions within the yard, support site operations teams, internal transportation field teams, and external carriers to ensure trailers arrive and depart on time with zero defects and maintain workflow for buildings.
- Be professionally trained to operate Commercial Motor Vehicles (CMVs) on non-public roads or in the yard to move trailers to/from dock and parking locations.
- Learn and comply with Department of Transportation (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). company policies and procedures related to size, weight, route designations, parking, trailer designations, violation and incident reporting, break periods, etc.
- Complete driver vehicle inspection reports and notify managers of maintenance or delivery issues.
- Follow hostler and delivery schedules, track and report working hours and breaks in compliance with Amazon policy, federal and state regulations, yard safety policies, and traffic laws.
- Support the business on an as-needed basis by serving as a peer trainer or working at nearby site locations.
- Drive, maneuver, and load/unload a truck using approved equipment (pallet jack, etc.).
- Hold a valid and active driver’s license.
- High school or equivalent diploma.
- Able to drive in accordance with DOT requirements and hold a valid CDL if required.
- Have at least 21 years of age.
- Can lift up to 49 pounds and be able to stand, walk, push, pull, squat, bend and reach during shifts lasting up to 12 hours.
- Work 40 hours per week with overtime as required.
- Work a flexible schedule/shift/work area, including weekends, nights, and/or holidays.
- Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills with diverse audiences.
- Experience building strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and outside vendors.
- A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Completion of Career Choice Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Course.
- Experience with Microsoft Office products and applications.
Starting pay for this position is USD 26.00–28.00 per hour, depending on location. Employees are eligible for additional earnings including overtime pay and performance bonuses. Benefits include EAP, Mental Health Support, Medical Advice Line, 401(k) matching, and a comprehensive benefits program.
