General Laborer​/Apprentice - Haines, AK

Job Summary

A Laborer carries out manual tasks which contribute to the success of the project for their professional specialty (road, pipelines, rail, etc.) in observance of the safety guidelines.

• Cleaning and preparing the construction site and pavement surfaces.
• Keep equipment and tools in good working condition.
• Shovel asphalt and other materials
• Luting / raking asphalt and aggregates
• Set-up and take down temporary work zones efficiently
• Optimal traffic control in and around work zones (flagging) crafting a safe environment for traffic and onsite workers
• Assist in backing and dumping of tri-axles and milling machines
• Handling of hot liquid asphalt and various materials
• Remove old asphalt, concrete and other materials using a jackhammer or cut-off saw
• Erect and remove delineating devices such as barrels and cones
• Seal end joints
• Help fill water tanks on equipment as needed
• Compact material with small hand rollers and vibratory plates
• Perform other tasks as assigned

• High School diploma/GED

• Valid Driver’s License and excellent driving record
• Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
• Follow all DOT and company safety regulations

• wears and maintains personal protective equipment (PPE), as required.
• Regularly required to communicate (talk and hear)
• standing/working on feet for long periods, and walking across uneven terrain
• Frequent exposure to loud noise
• regularly exposed to all outdoor weather conditions, dust, and airborne particles
