• Collaborate with community leaders to design and implement engaging cultural programs that reflect the traditions and values of the local Indigenous population.
• Assist in the planning and execution of workshops, storytelling sessions, and traditional craft‑making activities that foster cultural appreciation among participants.
• Support the development of educational materials that highlight the history, language, and customs of the Yakutat community.
• Facilitate interactive sessions for youth and families, encouraging participation in cultural practices and promoting intergenerational learning.
• Document and share participant experiences and feedback to help improve future programs and initiatives.
• Help organize community events, such as cultural festivals and gatherings, that celebrate Indigenous heritage and foster community spirit.
• Engage with local schools and organizations to promote cultural education and awareness, creating partnerships that enhance program reach.
• Participate in training sessions and workshops to deepen your understanding of Indigenous culture, language, and history, ensuring that all activities are respectful and accurate.

• A strong interest in Indigenous cultures, education, and community engagement.
• Previous experience in teaching, mentoring, or working with youth is highly desirable.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage diverse audiences.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team‑oriented environment, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• A willingness to learn and immerse yourself in the local culture, showing respect for traditions and practices.

• Familiarity with Indigenous languages or a willingness to learn basic phrases.
• Experience in event planning or program facilitation, particularly in educational or cultural settings.
• Background in anthropology, education, or a related field is a plus.
• Previous volunteer or internship experience in community service or cultural organizations.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting purposes.
• Basic knowledge of social media platforms for promoting events and engaging with the community online.
• Familiarity with video or photography tools for documenting events and creating promotional materials.

This internship is based in Yakutat, Alaska, a remote location known for its stunning natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. As a volunteer, you may need to adapt to a unique living environment that includes limited access to urban amenities. Housing arrangements will be provided, and you will receive a stipend to cover living expenses during your internship.
