Position: Laborer (Evergreen)

Job Overview

STG Inc, a subsidiary of Calista Brice, is hiring a temporary Laborer to support skilled workers and perform manual labor on general construction tasks across various remote Alaskan villages.

Responsibilities

Work closely and support a variety of skilled trades and construction activities.

Follow directives from the Project Foreman or any senior personnel, showing initiative and staying productive.

Perform physical labor that requires use of arms and legs, including climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials at construction sites.

Load, offload, move, and organize supplies, materials, tools, and small equipment at barge landings, airstrips, and on the job site.

Prepare work sites and maintain safe work conditions.

Perform grounding, weatherproofing, and testing of various systems.

Attend and participate in regular safety meetings.

Adhere to the Company wide safety plan and report any incidents that may affect safe operations to the supervisor and Safety Manager.

Conduct oneself in the best interest of the company while at work or representing STG.

Act as a team member and mentor less experienced laborers.

Cook and clean as necessary in shared living quarters.

Maintain consistent and punctual attendance and any required certifications.

Work as a team‑player with co‑workers in a respectful and supportive manner.

Seek and participate in development and on‑the‑job training opportunities.

Work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Functions

This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • All‑around knowledge of materials, terms, and practices in the construction field.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to gain basic knowledge of rigging protocols and hand signals.
  • Ability to safely utilize electronic test equipment and other specialized tools.
  • Skill in organizing resources, establishing priorities, meeting deadlines, and general time management.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, take directions from supervisors and crew members.
  • High degree of attention to detail, adherence to work rules, and the ability to follow the project schedule.
  • Strong self‑motivation and work ethic; ability to work with or without direct supervision.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, regulations, instruction manuals, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Ability to participate in group meetings.
  • Ability to travel to remote places for work (up to 100% of the time).
  • Ability to report to work consistently on time and work a flexible schedule (up to 12 hours per day, 7 days per week).
  • Ability to live and work with co‑workers in close quarters and maintain good morale.
Minimum Qualifications
  • First Aid/CPR training or ability to become certified.
  • Preference for a valid state driver’s license and qualification to operate a vehicle under company policy.
  • Ability to pass a drug, driving, and background screening.
Preferred Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience in the construction field.
  • Prior experience in Alaska’s rural construction industry.
  • Rigger/Signal person certification.
  • Heavy equipment experience.
Working Environment

Work environments are fast‑paced and multi‑tasking. Perform tasks in outdoor and indoor job sites under varying weather conditions. Overtime may be necessary for immediate field support or bid processing.
