The Department of Corrections, Division of Institutions, is recruiting for a Maintenance Generalist, Journey for the Wildwood Correctional Center (WCC), located in Kenai, Alaska.

What Will You Be Doing:
* Perform routine maintenance and repairs to support the overall upkeep of facility infrastructure.
* Carry out interior and exterior painting to preserve building appearance and durability.
* Install, repair, and maintain structural components including doors, frames, windows, ceilings, and flooring.
* Provide general plumbing and basic mechanical system maintenance to ensure safe and efficient operation.
* Troubleshoot and repair mechanical locks, electrical issues, and household or facility appliances.

The Working Environment You Can Expect:
This state adult correctional institution houses inmates of all custody levels. The position requires working in all areas of the facility and daily interaction with inmates.
Who We Are Looking For:
We are interested in candidates who possess some or all of the following position specific competencies:
* Mechanics:
Knowledge of machines and tools, including their design, use, benefits, repair, operation, and maintenance.
* Safety Engineering:
Knowledge of the concepts, principles, theories, and methods to identify, control, mitigate, and eliminate safety hazards in the design and use of facilities, equipment, operations, and work processes.
* Vehicle Maintenance:
Knowledge of motor vehicle engines, parts, and systems, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
Minimum Qualifications
This job class is part of a series of competency based class specifications created for career areas within the Labor, Trades, and Crafts Unit. The class specification identifies the levels of work and wage grades within the career area, the core and specific competencies of the career area, required work behaviors, certifications, and physical requirements. RECRUITMENT DIFFICULTIES
Starting salary may be approved up to Step C - $30.76, if criteria are met.
