General Maintenance Worker – Anchorage, Alaska – Joint Base Elmendorf–Richardson
Job Type: Non‑Exempt.
Work Schedule:
Full‑Time, Day Shift.
Compensation: $34.36 per hour.

- Assist skilled workers with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, HVAC, or masonry work.
- Maintain and uphold building, grounds, and equipment conditions.
- Communicate directly with customers and supervisors regarding repairs, unexpected issues, and customer needs.
- Respond to customer inquiries and complaints.
- Ensure completed work meets quality control standards.
- Assist trade technicians in diagnosing and providing solutions to customers and supervisors.
- Coordinate with the scheduler to update repair status, estimate completion dates, and material requirements.
- Operate company‑provided vehicles, trailers, and small equipment including lifts, generators, portable heaters, hoists, and pneumatic tools.
- Use mobile maintenance and inspection devices to record all service and repair activities.
- Follow all safety procedures and policies.
- Maintain professionalism in appearance and demeanor.
- Assemble and secure furniture and equipment.
- Wear required personal protective equipment.
- Perform other general maintenance tasks as assigned.
- Six (6) months of facilities maintenance experience preferred.
- Professional demeanor and ability to respond to customer inquiries or complaints.
- Strong teamwork skills.
- Capability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, sometimes in adverse weather.
- Experience working in varied environments, including high places.
- Good manual dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, physical fitness, and balance.
- Lifting or moving up to 70 pounds.
- Reaching, kneeling, walking, standing, and repetitive motion for several hours.
- Climbing in and out of vehicles, stairs, and other vertical movements.
- Standing or sitting for extended periods.
- Perseverance under pressure for extended periods.
- Valid state driver's license for company vehicle operation; ability to obtain Tessera insurance coverage.
- REAL‑ driver's license or acceptable alternative (U.S. passport, military ) for access to the federal military installation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
- Background check and E‑Verify process.
