Job Summary
Plumber – Anchorage, Alaska – Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson. Non‑Exempt, Full‑time, Day Shift. Start date anticipated August 25, 2026. Hourly pay $50.49 per hour.
Responsibilities- Test, certify, and repair backflow assemblies.
- Install, repair, inspect, remove, replace, and modify all plumbing equipment and components for water, sewer, swimming pools, inert gas, natural gas, air‑vacuum, compressed‑air, steam, and POL equipment.
- Remove blockages from drain lines, sewers, floor drains, fan‑coil units, air‑handling units, stacks, vents, and storm‑drainage systems.
- Adjust, repair, or replace leaky joints, faucets, and other outlets to maintain proper operation of hot water, chilled water, potable water, compressed‑air, and vacuum systems.
- Install and repair domestic, industrial, and commercial hot water heaters, storage tanks, and plumbing fixtures, including sinks, showers, toilets, and related equipment.
- Install or replace and connect water, air, natural‑gas, sewage, and storm‑fixtures such as water closets, showers, silos, gas heaters, and cooling towers.
- Perform scheduled maintenance and winterization to prevent damage to systems.
- Apply all code requirements (UMC, UPC) and ensure installations are properly sized, aligned, supported, and graded.
- Maintain records using mobile maintenance and inspection devices such as ultrasonic and thermography tools.
- Operate company‑provided vehicles, trailers, lifts, and small equipment; operate, clean, and maintain required tools and special equipment; wear PPE as required; read and understand drawings, work plans, and maps.
- Minimum of five (5) years of plumbing experience.
- Municipality of Anchorage plumber license preferred.
- State of Anchorage plumber license (Journeyman level) preferred.
- Alaska certificate of fitness required.
- Certified per UG‑2029‑ENV and Backflow Assembly Tester (BAT) certificate for the State of Alaska.
- Personnel performing maintenance on backflow prev enters must have a journeyman plumber’s license.
- Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to reach, kneel, walk, stand, and perform repetitive motion for several hours.
- Ability to climb in and out of vehicles and move up and down stairs.
- Perseverance to work effectively under pressure for extended periods of time.
- Valid state driver’s license with ability to obtain and maintain coverage by Tessera’s insurance.
- Real ‑compliant driver’s license, U.S. passport, or military for access to the federal military installation.
- Ability to obtain and maintain applicable security clearances and installation access.
- A background check and E‑Verify will be conducted for this position.
