Job Summary
Kenaitze's Yinihugheltani Project is a five-year grant award under SAMHSA's Native Connections grant. The priority of the national grant program is to reduce suicidal behavior and substance use among Native youth. The Yinihugheltani Project pursues that goal through the facilitation of one or more clubs for Native youth who plan and implement an annual calendar of activities and events built on a foundation of traditional Alaska Native and American Indian culture.
The Project Coordinator leads the Youth Club as a mentor, adult supervisor, and coach, with a goal of fostering and developing youth leadership. The Project Coordinator supervises the Youth Outreach and Support Specialist in order to accomplish all Youth Club objectives. The Project Coordinator keeps the Behavioral Health Manager informed of all Yinihugheltani activities. This position will also work to gather, review, and analyze data relevant to the full development of the grant.
Functions
- Have lead responsibility for the day-to-day activities associated with the Dena ina Yinihugheltani Project
- Sole responsibility for all grant reporting and project evaluation requirements. Specifically, this includes: quarterly, mid-year and annual reporting to funder s requirements; and development, execution, analysis, and dissemination of quantitative and qualitative data for grant evaluation needs
- Continually increase training and experience in the field of indigenous cultural healing including but not limited to:
White Bison programming, Wilderness First Aid, Trauma informed care, Chemical Dependency Counseling and Recovery, BHA, Talking Circle Keeping, Community Prayer facilitation, Native song and dance traditions, including AK native dance groups and fully committed Intertribal Drum Group membership, participation, and responsibilities - Design, plan, implement and facilitate grant programmatic efforts including Yinihugheltani Club meetings, activities, public events, and outreach efforts
- Plan, conduct and facilitate regional and local community outreach across multiple systems and organizations
- Complete annual trainings as required
