A growing local CPA firm in South Miami/Kendall is seeking a highly self-motivated candidate to serve as a Staff Auditor. Hourly salary will be based on experience.
The environment is very open to highly motivated candidates who are able to work within the firm's processes and procedures. Candidates must have strong communication skills. The Staff Auditor will work under the guidance of our senior staff auditor until they have sufficient experience to work independently.
Duties and Responsibilities- Testing Areas of the Balance Sheet and Profit and Loss Accounts
- Using online Software for Work papers
- Referencing the lead sheets for source testing documents
- Work in Quick Books Online and Thomson Reuters Engagement Manager System.
Participate in an informational interview with the lead auditor and their client to find out about their financial and operational history.
Evaluate Internal ControlsAssist the lead auditor in analyzing how a company operates and make recommendations based on the lead auditor's findings. This includes hiring policies, salary structure, job descriptions, disciplinary policies, and any other area that affects the operation of the business.
Analyze Financial Records for VariancesStaff would meticulously review financial and tax records to ensure they are accurate.
Observe Physical Inventory ProcessVisit client’s locations to perform testing and work with the employees to verify their inventory/item counts.
Prepare Audit Recommendations to Present to ManagementOnce the auditing processes are complete, candidate must have the ability to analyze the results and present their findings to the management team. It is expected that all audit communications are ethical, and objective based solely on the data.
Complete and Keep Track of All Audit PaperworkAt the end of each audit session, staff auditors complete a detailed report for both the client and their company’s record. These reports are sent to the managing auditor for approval.
To be considered for this Accounting position, you MUST have the following experience:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting nearing completion. Candidates attending Universities in the Kendall and South Miami area pursuing an Accounting or similar degree will also be considered. Ideal for students pursuing a master’s or currently studying for the CPA exam. The candidate will receive training from the AICPA and Thomson Reuters.
- Work efficiently in Audit software (training would be provided)
- Be able to travel to client sites
- Be able to perform a review and audit of work papers
- Work efficiently in Quick Books
- Working knowledge in Excel, Word, and Power Point
- Strong accounting skills necessary
- Must be able to have an easy personality with clients and staff
- High level of initiative and the ability to prioritize multiple projects
- Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively alone and efficiently in a small work environment
