Community Action Administrative Assistant

COMMUNITY ACTION SERVICES - ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Responsibilities- Plan, implement, and support a range of direct client services in all community action programs related to housing, employment, and transportation.
- Verifies client files for accuracy, completeness, and eligibility.
- Trained in Open Meetings Act (OMA) and responsible for meeting minutes and meeting duties as directed.
- Employee must be able to perform all assigned job duties during assigned business hours, including some evenings and weekends as required. Typical business hours are Tuesday through Friday 9:30AM – 3:30PM
- Part-Time, 24 hours per week
- Employee is required to attend after-hours Advisory Board meetings at least four times per calendar year
- Up to 14.5 Paid Holidays per year.
- Paid Vacation Time – accrued each month, available for use immediately, increases incrementally with years of service.
- Paid Sick Time – accrued each month, available for use immediately, unlimited carryover each year.
- Paid Personal Time – given annually, available for use immediately, does not carryover.
- Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund (IMRF) Pension Plan with voluntary additional contributions. Eligible to receive and IMRF regular plan pension (vesting) after 10 years of service.
- Employee Assistance Program. Professional development encouraged; time allocated for trainings.
- Positive, cooperative, and professional attitude.
- Ability to communicate by phone as well as in person including excellent diction, a helpful and culturally competent approach.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Reflects experience/interest in the culturally diverse population that the health department serves.
- Requires a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Two(2) years’ experience in an office setting, a certification in secretarial/administrative assistant, or any combination of experience, education, or training which would provide the level of knowledge, skills and ability required.
- Valid Illinois Driver’s License and become a Kendall County authorized driver upon hire.
