Day Camp Senior Counselor

**** THIS IS NOT A CIVIL SERVICE POSITION. ALL APPLICATIONS WILL BE FORWARDED TO THE PERSONNEL DEPARTMENT****

Day Camp Director and Assistant Director, and Leisure Service Supervisor.

• Assist in coordinating onsite activities, field trips, etc.
• Act as an authority figure when director and assistant director are not available.
• Serve as a role model for campers.
• Represent the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department at day camp for interpretation of rules and regulations.
• Report any problems that may occur during camp to the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department.

Will be required to work at assigned location of Day Camp. Work hours will be determined by schedule set for day camp by the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department, Leisure Service Division.

This individual must be able to read and comprehend directions from the Leisure Service Manager concerning the rules and regulations. Must act as a mediator and supervisor if a dispute occurs during camp.

All day camp equipment and supplies.

Standing, bending and moving constantly during camp time. Must be able to lift 30 lbs.

Must be able to communicate in English both orally and in writing. Must be able to comprehend verbal or written direction and instructions from the Leisure Service Manager.

Monitor and respond in responsible manner in various situations, maintain objective attitude, tact and discretion. Must be age 17 or older. Minimum of 2 years as a day camp counselor. Must be able to work with young adults and children.

3+ years of previous experience in group leadership of peers and/or children.
