Fitness Instructor; Zumba

Position: Fitness Instructor (Zumba)

Part Time: 17 Hrs/Week

To teach aerobics and physical fitness.

KIND OF WORK/

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

(This is descriptive, not restrictive as to all tasks included in this position).

* To instruct physical fitness classes.

* To be the representative for the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department at physical fitness classes for interpretation of the rules and regulations.

* To be responsible to report to the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department any problems that may occur during class.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/HOURS WORKED:

Will be required to work at assigned location of aerobics - physical fitness classes. Work hours will be determined by schedule set for aerobics - physical fitness classes by the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department, Leisure Service Division.

COMMUNICATIONS

SKILLS:

This individual must be able to read and to be able to comprehend directions from the Leisure Service Supervisor or Leisure Service Manager concerning various rules and regulations set forth by the Kenner Parks and Recreation Department, Leisure Service Division. Must be able to act as a mediator and supervisor if a dispute occurs during class.

EQUIPMENT USED:

Stereo and fitness equipment.

ADA COMPLIANCE

PHYSICAL INVOLVEMENT:

Standing, bending and moving constantly during class instruction time.

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Some tasks require the ability to recognize and identify similarities or differences between characteristics of shapes and sounds associated with job-related objects, materials and tasks.

ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:

Some task may risk exposure to irate individuals and intimidation.

MENTAL INVOLVEMENT:

Must be able to communicate in English both orally and in writing. Must be able to comprehend verbal or written direction and instructions from Leisure Service Manager.

HUMAN RELATIONS INVOLVEMENT:

To be able to monitor and respond in a responsible manner in various situations and to maintain an objective attitude, tact and discretion under these conditions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be age 18 or older and must have advanced knowledge of aerobics and physical fitness.

DESIRABLE

QUALIFICATIONS:

Prior background in physical fitness instruction.
