Equipment Operator II

Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled work requiring manual labor and operating heavy equipment. Work involves operating and maintaining heavy equipment. Reports to the assigned Foreman.

Essential job functions include operating a variety of heavy equipment, loading and unloading needed materials and supplies, performing maintenance in assigned areas, hauling equipment, maintaining assigned equipment and machinery, providing assistance with other crews, divisions, and departments, receiving and reviewing various records and reports, preparing and processing various records and reports, referring to street map, work order, manuals, policy and procedure manuals, codes/laws/regulations, publications and reference texts, operating a variety of vehicles, equipment, and machinery, using a variety of tools and supplies, and interacting and communicating with various groups and individuals.

Additional job functions include providing assistance with hanging holiday decorations, moving furniture, providing assistance in setting up tents and temporary special events, and performing other related duties as required. Essential duty status position, will be required to report to work during emergency situations.

Requires one to two years of experience operating heavy construction and maintenance equipment and performing related skilled work; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must have a valid Class "A" Louisiana driver's license. Non-competitive - all candidates meeting the minimum qualification requirements and any necessary selective criteria will be certified to the vacancy.
