- Research tax laws
- Gather information and explain options for best practice to clients
- Prepare quarterly and annual tax compliance
- Prepare federal and state income tax filings
- Ensure tax returns are filed in accordance with tax authorities
- Assist in IRS and state audits and act as liaison between government auditors, tax consultants, and AP/AR managers
- Work with state agencies to set up accounts
- Work as liaison with the Sales department and tax consultants for project tax wording
- Work as liaison with the AR manager and tax consultants to ensure invoices are taxed and coded correctly
- Respond to various tax notices from states
- Work on various tax projects that arise (including projects to start now and possibly future projects)
- Degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- 3–7 years proven experience as a tax accountant, tax analyst, or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of accounting laws and procedures
- Computer literacy in accounting software
- Good numerical skills
- Attention to detail
- Outstanding analytical skills
- Knowledge of sales tax systems, specifically Avalara
- Overtime, if required by work
- Professional office etiquette required at all times
- Physical requirements:
sitting, stooping, bending, visual acuity, finger dexterity, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds
- 2 remote days per week
- Half‑day Fridays
