Supports assigned department, location, unit and/or college by performing administrative tasks, including maintaining accounting records, processing transactions, reconciling accounts, and fielding communications with faculty, staff, students and vendors.
Responsibilities- Performs general accounting duties for the assigned area
- Prepares invoice packets and reviews expense reports and invoices, checking for compliance
- Reconciles accounts to general ledger
- Prepares assigned grants and/or contracts
- Manages assigned vendor accounts per established guidelines
- Provides administrative support to the department by monitoring department inbox and phones, data entry, journal entry, filing and scans documents
- Provides reports and queries as requested or assigned
- Communicates with vendors, faculty and staff regarding reimbursement request discrepancies
Educational Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Required Experience
On-the-job training provided
Preferred Educational Qualifications
An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education related to accounting, finance, business or other related field
Preferred Experience
People Soft software experience
Previous accounting or financial services experience

Knowledge
Advanced data entry and 10 key skills; understands accounting processes and basic bookkeeping procedures (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable)
Skills
Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills; proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite); strong attention to detail and follow up skills; strong customer service skills and phone and e-mail etiquette
