Department InformationThe History and Philosophy Department prepares students for adaptable, fulfilling careers by teaching a core set of transferable knowledge and skills through research, analyzing and assessing evidence, and articulating sound conclusions both orally and in writing. Students learn about the larger world by studying societies, cultures, and economies across a broad chronological and geographical spectrum, which makes them better global citizens, problem solvers, and communicators.

Job SummaryKennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full‑time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of History in the Department of History and Philosophy with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine‑month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities- Teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in History. Faculty are expected to teach courses of variable size and modalities, including large class sizes.
- Service to the Department/College/University/professional community is expected.
- Scholarship/Research expectations compatible with departmental expertise.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required QualificationsA Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in History, or a related discipline, is required at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications- Research and demonstrable field experience which supports expectations for publication in accordance with an R‑2 institution.
