Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144. Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.

We prepare teachers at all career stages to meet students' intellectual and social-emotional needs in developmentally appropriate ways. Our department is nationally recognized for work in Curriculum and Instruction;
Middle Grades and Secondary Education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. We have the largest doctoral enrollment in Bagwell.
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, non-tenure track faculty position as Lecturer of Secondary and Middle Grades Education in the Department of Secondary and Middle Grades Education (SMGE) with a preferred start date of August 2026. This is a nine-month contracted position and is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
Workload expectations for teaching are the equivalent of five courses per semester; however, one course per semester is allocated to coordinating the middle-grades program per contract year. The Lecturer of Secondary and Middle Grades Education will teach students in Foundations of Education courses, the B.S.Ed. in Middle Grades Education, and possibly concentrations in the MAT program. The Lecturer of Secondary and Middle Grades Education will coordinate the B.S.Ed.
in Middle Grades Education program. More specifically, the Lecturer in Secondary and Middle Grades Education will successfully:
* Teach Foundation courses for the college, core or elective courses in the B.S.Ed. in Middle Grades Education.
* Teach in other programs within SMGE aligned with disciplinary expertise as needed.
* Provide information on the B.S.Ed. in Middle Grades Education to potential students.
* Lead program coordination activities including but not limited to curriculum development and revision, assessment, advising, mentoring, and other student success activities in the department.
* Attend SMGE, Middle Grades program, and Bagwell College of Education meetings, as required.
* Engage in department and college service activities, including collaboration with P-12 partners, as required.
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
* An earned doctorate, or the foreign equivalent, in Education, Curriculum & Instruction, Curriculum Studies or a related discipline (e.g., Teacher Education, Teaching and Learning, other Teaching and Learning fields, etc.) is required at the time of hire.
* Work experience in a middle-grades (4
- 8) or secondary school (including national and/or international contexts)
* Experience with instructional technology
Preferred Qualifications
* Multiple teaching certification fields, for example Social Studies/History and Science/Specific Content Science
* Experience teaching in middle-grades (4-8) school settings
* Evidence of scholarship/creative activities and/or graduate work focused on student success in middle grades settings
* Experience teaching online or hybrid courses
* Experience with program coordination
* Evidence of ability to work with colleagues and students in a professional, collegial manner
