Provides assistance to the instructors for various summer camp programs for KSU Community and Professional Education. Weeklong daycamps for high school students run June 1‑July 24 and camp assistants provide a safe and engaging environment for campers and instructors.
Responsibilities- Assists camp instructors in organizing and leading a variety of group activities.
- Ensures that classrooms are kept clean and organized.
- Understands emergency protocol and procedures.
- Identifies and responds to behavioral issues and reports concerns to camp leadership.
- Assists in maintaining accurate program records and attendance.
- Assists with camper arrival, lunch, and dismissal.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
Required Qualifications
- First Aid and CPR training provided upon hire by the university.
- Able to lead, plan, and facilitate group activities.
- Flexibility to work in teams and individually.
- A strong desire to help shape, influence and nurture the minds of children.
- Able to create a fun and positive energy classroom environment.
- Strong organization and communication skills.
- An undergraduate or advanced degree from an accredited institution of higher education in a related field.
- Experience working with summer programs, youth ages 14‑18, or related experience.
The budgeted pay rate is $14.00 per hour. Offers are based on relevant experience.
Abilities & Skills- Able to handle multiple tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines.
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills.
- Proficient with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e., Microsoft Office suite).Strong attention to detail and follow up skills.
- Strong customer service skills.
