Job Responsibilities
Our Kennesaw campus is located at 1000 Chastain Road NW, Kennesaw, GA 30144.
Our Marietta campus is located at 1100 South Marietta Parkway, Marietta, GA 30060.
Job SummaryResponsible for assisting the Lead Teacher to teach a high quality, culturally competent, project-based curriculum, engaging students in reading, writing, math, and science throughout the six-week Horizons summer enrichment program. The primary goal of Horizons is to reverse the trend of summer learning loss that adversely impacts the long-term success of underserved students. The assistant teacher will work with one class of 15 students that range from rising 1st through 8th grade and will be part of a team that consists of a Lead Teacher and an Instructional Assistant.
ResponsibilitiesKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Educational Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
Required Qualifications:
- Current, valid and unrestricted driver's license
- Expertise in Education or education related field area (Child Psychology, Child Development etc)
Preferred Educational
Qualifications:
- Education major or related field (Child Psychology, Child Development etc)
- Experience working with youth, ages 5-18 years of age
- Current or previous experience teaching or advising students in an educational setting
ABILITIES:
- Able to work with elementary and/or middle grades aged children in a classroom and outdoor environment
- Able to handle multiple assigned tasks or projects at one time meeting assigned deadlines
- Some travel to KSU campus will be required
- Must provide own transportation to the site
- Excellent interpersonal, initiative, teamwork, problem solving, independent judgment, organization, communication (verbal and written), time management, project management and presentation skills
- Excellent with computer applications and programs associated with the position (i.e. Microsoft Office suite)
- Strong attention to detail and follow up skills
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong communication skills
