The History and Philosophy Department prepares students for adaptable, fulfilling careers by teaching a core set of transferable knowledge and skills through research, analyzing and assessing evidence, and articulating sound conclusions both orallyand in writing. Job SummaryKennesaw State University is now accepting applications for afull-time, tenure track faculty position as Assistant Professor of History in the Department of History and Philosophy with apreferred start date of August 2027. This is a nine-month contracted position and is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities- Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in history, including History of Georgia, US History surveys, and upper level electives such as Jacksonian America, Civil War and Reconstruction,Historical Methods, Research Seminars, and others in field of expertise. Faculty are expected to teach courses of variable sizeand modalities, including large class sizes when necessary, and on Kennesaw and/or Marietta campuses.
- Produce and disseminate high-quality, meaningful scholarship inhistory or a closely related field
- Pursue external funding to support research and scholarship
- Serve the department/college/university/professional community
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOCFaculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications- An earned Ph.D. degree, or the foreign equivalent, in History,or a closely related field, is required at the time of hire.
